About Oak Street Advisors
Oak Street Advisors is a registered investment advisory firm serving retirees, pre-retirees, and small business owners in Myrtle Beach and Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, providing tax-efficient retirement planning, wealth management, and comprehensive financial planning.
We provide personalized financial planning, tax planning, and ongoing investment management for individuals and families with $500,000 or more in investable assets — never commissions, never one-time engagements, always independent.
Who founded Oak Street Advisors?
Joe Taylor founded Oak Street Advisors in 2005, after building his career in financial services starting in 1989. After years of working within the traditional Wall Street model, Joe set out to build something different: a firm that put clients’ interests first, offered clear, straightforward guidance, and operated with true independence as a fee-only Registered Investment Advisor (RIA).
How has Oak Street Advisors grown since 2005?
As the firm grew, so did its ability to serve more families, small business owners, and retirees. In 2014, Joe’s son Bryan Taylor joined the team, and the firm soon opened a second office in Mt. Pleasant, SC, expanding its reach across the state.
Who leads Oak Street Advisors today?
Bryan Taylor is the sole owner of Oak Street Advisors today. After more than a decade working alongside his father, Joe, he now leads the firm with the same commitment to transparency, integrity, and personal service on which it was founded. Bryan has been a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional since 2018 and has worked in the financial planning and investment management field since 2014.

Is Oak Street Advisors the right fit for you?
Oak Street Advisors primarily serves individuals and families with $500,000 or more in directly investable assets who seek highly personalized financial and tax planning, along with ongoing investment management.
Our clients typically have complex financial lives and want a proactive, fiduciary-focused relationship that integrates tax strategy, retirement planning, and tax-smart investment management. We do not offer one-time financial planning engagements.
Is Oak Street Advisors a fiduciary?
Yes. Oak Street Advisors is a fee-only, SEC-registered investment advisory firm and acts as a fiduciary at all times, which means we’re legally required to act in your best interest, not just recommend what’s “suitable.” We don’t earn commissions on any product we recommend. Our current Form ADV Part 2A, which details our services and fees, is available by request or online at the SEC’s Investment Adviser Public Disclosure database.
