Breaking the Credit Card Habit

One of the most insidious problems I often face with clients is the use or rather misuse of credit cards. Swiping a card doesn’t feel as painful as spending your hard earned paycheck, but it should be. The road to credit card abuse starts like this: “I’ll have the money next month” which turns […]

Is Gold Really Golden?

Sometimes I get a question about investing in gold. Usually it is after a tumultuous time in the stock market or a geopolitical crisis de jour. But thinking of gold as an investment to my mind is wrong. Gold is not an investment it is something to speculate in. An investment grows apart from any […]

Sooner or Later?

If you think risk is the chance your investment dollar will go down today, then I challenge you to ask the question “When should I take on risk?” If you choose to put your money in a CD or savings account, you avoid the risk of any fluctuation of the principle. You do have the […]

The Brexit Chaos

I turned on CNBC this morning to the news that the Brits had voted to leave the EU. The S&P futures showed a loss of nearly 4%. The British Pound dropping by nearly 8%. The announcers are interviewing anyone that will talk about the doom to come. In other words the sky is falling…again. Except […]

The Right Fit

I’m not one to pay buckets of money for custom tailored clothing. Just like many of you, I go to a store, pick out my general size and buy the nearest fitting clothes available. I would enjoy having my shoulders, waist, neck etc. measured to the quarter inch, then have my clothes fit perfectly, but […]

Year End Tax Planning

With the end of the year approaching, now is the time to look for opportunities to save on income taxes. Here are some items you should look for: Determine whether bunching deductions into 2019 or 2020 will enable you to itemize. Maximize the $15,000 per donee annual gift tax exclusion if estate taxes are a concern […]

If You Invest Following the Headlines, You’ll Soon be Delivering the Paper

Stole that headline from Twitter. Originated with someone named Allen Kuhn. I don’t know Allen but that is a catchy snippet. One hundred and forty characters doesn’t tell much of a story so I will just guess what Allen was thinking. These were all on Yahoo finance today. This could send gold tumbling below $1,000 […]

Learn From My Fail: Bill Ackman and Valeant Pharmaceutical

If you haven’t heard of Bill Ackman before then good for you! You’re out living your life and are not too plugged into CNBC. Bill Ackman is a hedge fund manager, he is a really smart guy and made a lot of money for his investors…until recently. His big bet on pharmaceutical company Valeant has […]

2015 Market Recap

A volatile stock market closed 2015 with a small loss of 0.70% on the S&P 500 index and 1.0% for the Dow. The US Dollar gained about 9% against other major currencies resulting in a 1% loss in the EFA Index for dollar denominated investors. The Federal Reserve finally began raising rates at the end […]

Operations Manager

Born and raised in Maryland, I moved to South Carolina in 2023 and joined Oak Street Advisors’ Myrtle Beach office in 2024 as the firm’s Operations Manager.  I’ve worked in the financial service industry most of my career, including ten years for a large brokerage firm and the last two years as a Client Relations Specialist at a similarly sized RIA.

I enjoy working hand-in-hand with our clients on all administrative and operational needs. Client satisfaction and planning efficiency are my top priorities — as I take pride in providing proactive service to every client household at Oak Street Advisors.

While not in the office, I enjoy quality time with my family, walking my rescue dog, Auggie, on the beach, cooking, and exploring South Carolina.

Fiduciary Financial Advisor

I joined Oak Street Advisors’ Myrtle Beach office in 2021. I currently serve as a fiduciary financial advisor and associate financial planner. I hold the Series 65 and am working towards obtaining my CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER (TM) accreditation.

I strive to provide clients diligent and proactive service while assisting the team with planning, investment strategies, and recommendations.

While not in the office, I enjoy running, golfing, fishing, going to the beach with my wife Natalie and our son Bennett, and watching my beloved Green Bay Packers play (I even own stock in the team!).

BRYAN TAYLOR, CFP®

Owner & President  | Fiduciary Financial Advisor

I graduated from Clemson University and began my financial planning career shortly after with a small advisory firm on the ground floor — learning the basics of financial and tax planning and running a financial advising business.

At the same time, I enrolled in the University of Georgia Terry College of Business’ Executive Program in Financial Planning and completed the coursework at nights and on weekends. Soon after, I completed my CFP® certification and joined the family business.

A year after I joined the firm, we opened our second location in Mt. Pleasant, SC where I reside with my family. Over the next 10+ years I cherished the opportunity to learn and grow the family business with my father. We worked hard to build the firm into what it is today — something we’re both proud to say we accomplished together.

Today, I serve in a Senior Advisor and Planner role, working together with our team on all financial plans and strategies. By collaborating we provide fiduciary financial and tax planning and asset management to our clients within a fee-only business model — which reflects our conviction of putting our clients’ interest above the next dollar.

When I’m away from the office, I enjoy playing golf, boating, pulling for the Clemson Tigers, and relaxing on the beach with my wife, Laura, and daughters Riley and Ramsey.
