Don’t Put All Your (Easter) Eggs in One Basket

With Easter being Sunday, it’s a good time to reiterate the age old saying of “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket”. This applies to many things in life, but it is especially paramount in the world of finance and the creation of a comfortable retirement strategy. Diversification should be the foundation of your financial goals. […]

Why Own Bonds?

You have heard of the importance of owning a diversified portfolio. For those who do not manage money professionally, the mantra to diversify by investment class is pounded into their heads by the consumer finance media and is rarely questioned. The reason bonds are included in a balanced portfolio is usually to reduce the overall […]

Madness

March Madness is upon us and we have already seen many underdogs coming out of nowhere to upset the perennial powerhouse college basketball programs. If you filled out a bracket, like many of our clients in our annual Oak Street Advisor’s Bracket Challenge, then I’m sure you’ve been somewhat frustrated with this year’s tournament, as it […]

Now or Later

If you think risk is the chance your investment dollar will go down today, then I challenge you to ask the question “When should I take on risk?” If you choose to put your money in a CD or savings account, you avoid the risk of any fluctuation of the principle.  You do have the risk of interest rates. Will […]

Not So Lucky

Today, we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in honor of the death of St. Patrick and Irish history and culture. There will be green everywhere, representing good luck, even in the many beers to be consumed today.  One thing that we also hope to be green is our stock symbols. However, when it comes to good financial standing, there […]

All That is Gold Does Not Glitter

Boring, boring, boring. That’s how you might describe one of the best investments my kids will ever profit from. Back in 1990 my children’s grandparents bought them 50 shares of Disney common stock for around $500 per child. The kids received the dividend check each quarter and thought it was neat getting a little extra […]

Opportunity Only Knocks Once

Opportunity only knocks once. You’ve heard this old saying many times in your life. I think it’s wrong. I believe opportunity knocks every day. Maybe it’s a chance to be a little nicer to the people in our lives or the people we meet on the street. Maybe it’s the opportunity to be more generous […]

Lifeboat Drill

If you ever take a cruise it will begin something like this.  You board the ship.  You are excited to begin your vacation.  While your luggage is being loaded and you are waiting for all your fellow passengers to arrive, you tour this huge floating hotel, taking in the beautiful blue ocean and the clear […]

Doctor’s Orders

It’s common for people to visit the doctor when they are sick. There are those who go whenever something arises, and there are those who avoid the doctor at all costs, often times self-medicating through WebMD or homemade remedies passed down from previous generations. Just as we should visit a doctor when our health is […]

Christina Norwood, Operations Manager at Oak Street Advisors

Christina Norwood

Operations Manager

Born and raised in Maryland, I moved to South Carolina in 2023 and joined Oak Street Advisors’ Myrtle Beach office in 2024 as the firm’s Operations Manager.  I’ve worked in the financial services industry most of my career, including ten years for a large brokerage firm and the last two years as a Client Relations Specialist at a similarly sized RIA.

I enjoy working hand-in-hand with our clients on all administrative and operational needs. Client satisfaction and planning efficiency are my top priorities, and I take pride in providing proactive service to every client household at Oak Street Advisors.

While not in the office, I enjoy quality time with my family, walking my rescue dog, Auggie, on the beach, cooking, and exploring South Carolina.

I joined Oak Street Advisors’ Myrtle Beach office in 2021. I currently serve as a fiduciary financial advisor and associate financial planner. I hold the Series 65 and am working toward obtaining my CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification.

I strive to provide clients diligent and proactive service while assisting the team with planning, investment strategies, and recommendations.

While not in the office, I enjoy running, golfing, fishing, going to the beach with my wife Natalie and our son Bennett, and watching my beloved Green Bay Packers play (I even own stock in the team!).

BRYAN TAYLOR, CFP®

Owner & President  | Fiduciary Financial Advisor

I graduated from Clemson University and began my financial planning career shortly after with a small advisory firm on the ground floor — learning the basics of financial and tax planning and running a financial advising business.

At the same time, I enrolled in the University of Georgia Terry College of Business’ Executive Program in Financial Planning and completed the coursework at nights and on weekends. Soon after, I completed my CFP® certification and joined the family business.

A year after I joined the firm, we opened our second location in Mt. Pleasant, SC where I reside with my family. Over the next 10+ years I cherished the opportunity to learn and grow the family business with my father. We worked hard to build the firm into what it is today — something we’re both proud to say we accomplished together.

Today, I serve in a Senior Advisor and Planner role, working together with our team on all financial plans and strategies. By collaborating we provide fiduciary financial and tax planning and asset management to our clients within a fee-only business model — which reflects our commitment to putting our clients’ interests above the next dollar.

When I’m away from the office, I enjoy playing golf, boating, pulling for the Clemson Tigers, and relaxing on the beach with my wife, Laura, and daughters Riley and Ramsey.
